In the making

This is week is definitely becoming the best week ever.

Yesterday: I got the greatest ringtone ever. I love it when my phone goes off.

Today: Finished finals. Third semester of college - done! Let a much needed break begin!

Tomorrow: Hour long facial and 90 minute massage. I know you are ALL jealous.

Friday: I am giving an adoption presentation at a high school. I am actually way excited. And then I'm getting my hair done, which I LOVE doing. Pictures will be posted.

Saturday: Pedicures with my big sister for her birthday. I feel like I never see her since she lives a half hour away, so it will be super fun to hang out with her for a bit!

I'm thinking I need to join a group of some kind. Like a scrapbook group or a bowling team. I like to do things to take up my time, but without a planned group it's easy to fall into just watching tv and I feel stuck in a funk right now. I need to get out of it.

I'm also thinking of getting an etsy account and selling headbands on it. I first need to see if the new flowers I want to attempt making will actually look good. But based off the pictures I've seen of what I want to try they will be marvelous! Now to just get the fabric..

Counting

1. For the past week and a half I have had no appetite.
2. I went by Carl's Jr to eat something for the first time today at 4:15 and found out that food also tastes bad now.
3. I need a house to decorate. I buy home decor things too much for just a bedroom.
4. I have my 4th UTI in 6 weeks.
5. The doctor thinks I may have something else wrong with me. Awesome.
6. Sunshine looks cute with a ponytail
7. I called Paul Mitchell to change my hair appointment and was asked if it was okay if I was put on hold while she changed it. While on hold another girl picks up the phone and I tell her I'm on hold while my appointment gets changed. Apparently the other girl forgot about me and changed my appointment without then telling me.
8. Traeson is a good painter.

Hair. Part one.

Yesterday I got my hair colored. The first round of coloring. It still needs to be cut also. So this is just like the introduction to my new hair.

I don't know what I would do if I didn't have a friend in hair school.
Probably have extremely boring, unchanging hair.

Play time

Monday I went to see baby Traeson and had so much fun! He is getting so big and likes to look at books now! He is such a big boy it is insane. I could actually start to play with him. It will just get more and more fun!

I can't believe how much I love this little boy! I am so grateful for his wonderful parents who let me come over just about whenever I want to so I can see him. I don't know what I would do if I knew I couldn't see him. It's so weird and incredible to have someone feel a part of you. And he's definitely the best part of me.

First wrapping of the season!

Yay for Christmas! I just wrapped up my first Christmas gift! It's for baby Traeson, of course. I don't really know how many presents are appropriate for, 1. a two month old, and, 2. a baby you place for adoption. So I guess I'll just keep buying until I feel like I've gone crazy!

So I'm loving this twig/branch thing that's way in right now. I just went outside and snapped a few off my tree and, vwala! Expect a theme in my wrapping.

I'm so excited to get some more wrapping on!

Provo, you're stealing my memories

Last night I came across the more horrible discovery. I was casually driving to my father's office to do some cleaning when I passed by The Training Table. You want to know what I saw? It is closed and is becoming a JCW's.

It was my first job.

I had my first kiss there.

(Yes, that link is correct. This news report is from last September, almost 3 years after I kissed him.)

The only boy I ever said "I love you" to I met there.

Where am I supposed to go to reminisce now? Also, where am I supposed to go to get Training Table food? I lived off that stuff for a whole year of high school. I love that stuff. I'm going to have to travel up north now to get a fix. This is a terrible time.

Brooke, would you like to do my homework?

For my education class I have to give a lesson and give an analogy of what teaching is like. I'm doing Teaching is like Having a Baby. We are supposed to have visuals so I needed to make a poster that said "Teaching is like Having a Baby." Since I had the evening alone with a 5 year old I thought it would appropriate if she made the poster. So I wrote it in pencil and she picked loads of colors to paint with. It was a blast!

After a little while she began posing. The kandids weren't doing it for her.

Ta-Da!

Brooke's funny comment of day: Asking about the picture she painted of herself, "Do I look fat in this picture?"

Mom for a day, or two or three..

So for today, tomorrow, and Friday I am taking care of three girls. Their parents are both out of town and so I have moved right in and am loving it!
The oldest girl, Celeste, is 16 and mortified that someone is there to take care of her. But I'm mostly there to take care of the younger girls, though it won't hurt for someone to keep an eye on her. She kept apologizing last night. But, to be honest, I am overjoyed to take care of them.
The middle is Sydney. She is 11 and likes me a lot. I don't think she remembers me from when she was little, but since I'm becoming an elementary school teacher she think I'm pretty great.
Then there is Brooke. Brooke is 5 and is probably the funniest little girl I have ever met. Her dad told me when I got there that she likes to get in trouble and like to disobey. "Great," I thought. Luckily for me I wore a purple jacket and yellow headband. "I love purple and yellow, so I like you," Brooke said just after I got there.
Tonight Celeste and Sydney will be going to their dad's house so it will just be me and Brooke, then tomorrow I'll pick up Brooke from the bus stop at 12:20, so it will just be me and her again. I have a feeling this will quite a riot.

The only negative thing about this nanny job is that it throw the decision I made to not parents my own baby in my face. I love the parents of my baby, but even the most perfect people in the world parenting my child still wouldn't make my life better. No matter how you swing it, concerning me, this is the worst decision I have ever made. I wish that knowing my baby is in the best place for him was enough, but that's all for him. And my happiness is only partially dependent on his, not completely. I would love to even just babysit him. But I'm afraid that would be inappropriate to say.

Brooke's Funny Comment of the Day:
"I need to put my eyebrows in the fish tank now."

If it doesn't sew it's just a machine

I was all ready for a nice productive day of quilting. I have a whole slew of new fabric to make a lovely quilt for a Christmas gift and am so excited to get working on it! I spent an hour and half cutting all my pieces, got the sewing machine ready to go. I flew through the first 3 strips bam, bam, bam. Then the forth strip went stitch, stitch, ERRRRR. Crap! So I get my nice little tester strip, stitch, stitch, ERRRRR. Pull out bobbin, clear out dust. Stitch, stitch, ERRRRR. Pull out bobbin, pull out all those pieces inside and find...nothing. Stitch, stitch, ERRRRR.

Fine. No quilt today.

Oh doctor, how I have missed you

Today I got to go back to the doctor. After seeing the doctor once a month for 4 months, twice a month from 1, and once a week for the last month of my pregnancy, along with a trip to hospital every week that last month, I felt very neglected these past few weeks. No doctor was interested in how my body was doing. So 4 and half long weeks later I go to the doctor and guess what, she wants to see me again next week! Then a week or two after that. I guess she really missed me and now regrets not seeing me more often.

I do love my doctor.

P.S. Turns out the internet also thinks my name is Philip Anderson. I don't know why, Philip Anderson and Alexa Seiler are only similar in the fact that they are made up of letters. So if you get creeped on by a Philip Anderson, it is really just me. Maybe I'll get a computer genius to take a looksie and fix this little dilemma for me.

Two visits and a hat

Wednesday Dani brought my baby to my house so we could go through some of my baby pictures together. It was so fun having him here! I had only been with him in the hospital, the photo studio, and Chris and Dani's house. I can't wait to be with him in more places!

Today I took Jenna up to Chris and Dani's because it is Trae's one month birthday today! Jenna made him a cute little hat. He isn't quite big enough for it yet though.

He is getting so big it's crazy! Every time I hold him he feels like a new person.

Flashback

So apparently there was an issue with my old blog, so here are all my old posts so everyone can be up to date.

Aunty Nicole and Poison Potatoes
November 22, 2010

Last night I got to take my bestie friend Nicole to go see baby Trae. Sadly for her he was having a rough night, his tummy was a bit upset. Even though he was fussy for a bit of the night he was still the cutest baby in the whole wide world! He loved meeting his aunt Nicole.

Tonight, as I was mixing my mashed potatoes on my plate I saw something a little funny poke out the side. So I go to grab it thinking, "Where did a piece of asparagus come from? We aren't having asparagus tonight." As I pulled it out I quickly realized that the one inch long cylinder that was heavy and burning my finger was definitely not asparagus. It was a pice of metal. There was a piece of metal in my mashed potatoes. Turns out a piece of the hand mixer fell off into the potatoes and I happened to pull out the chunk it was resting in. Boy am I glad I mixed those potatoes before chomping down on a nice hunk of metal!

Fatty
November 18, 2010

Traeson is now a whole 3 weeks and 1 day old. He is a whopping 9 lbs. 4 oz. (That's 1 lb. 9 oz. bigger than he was at birth.) He was once I tiny little baby, and now has a double chin. Let the rolls begin!

I think you may have gotten the wrong idea
November 10, 2010

Dear Bladder,
I think I may have offended you a few weeks back when i had that nurse put a little tubey in you and drain you for all you're worth. It wasn't because I didn't trust you to do you job, it was because I was number from the belly down and could not walk to the bathroom. So please stop punishing me and releasing your fluids whenever you feel like. I know you can do your job, in fact, you are quite good at it. So please accept my apology for not explaining my motives beforehand.
Love Alexa
Dear Milk,
Now you are not so loved as my dear bladder. Remember those fun little games we played trying to get you to go away? Well, those weren’t games. I was really trying to get you to go away. It just not working between us. It’s not you, it’s me. I want to finish my schooling first. I’m not ready for a serious relationship. And just because I went to see baby Traeson last night does not mean I want you back. So please, let’s stop the charade and go our separate ways. It would be very much appreciated.

Can't get enough
Novemeber 6, 2010

So because I just love pictures of this little boy and, thanks to the greatest adoptive mom ever, have only about a million so far. Here is just a bunch of them to show off how stinkin’ cute he is!

These are taken on the blanket I made him.

Isn't he just so precious? And this really is how he is all the time, just so peaceful.

Then there are always the goofy ones. He is so tiny that hardly any of his clothes fit him, his mom had to go out and buy smaller ones because he had nothing to wear. And him with his beach baby, I think they are going to become great friends.

He made it home just in time for Halloween. He was 3 days old and the plan was for him to be a pirate, but then he was drowning in the outfit and the eye patch was a bit more like a face patch, so he was the cutest little bull dog you’ve ever seen instead.

So these last few don’t really go together, but they don’t really go with anything else. They are just bits from the many photo shoots Dani does with little Trae. There has never been a more photographed baby, I’m sure of it.

All kinds of crazy
November 5, 2010

Today was the first day since placement that I went up to see little Traeson. Talk about an exciting day. Chris, Dani, and Trae, along with Eric and I, got some “family” pictures taken.

Crazy #1: Two set of parents, one baby
“Casually look at each other,” the photographer said. We all took that as awkwardly-look-and-laugh-at-each-other.

Crazy #2: Was that baby on a motorcycle?
So we forget to check Trae’s hair, he looks like he was caught in windstorm. But who doesn’t love a brandy new baby with a full head of hair?

Crazy #3: When a baby loses it
None of us were quite sure how Trae was able to simultaneously go cock eyed and stick out his tongue. I attribute it to an hour long photo session with no nap breaks. he was a little pooped and apparently went mad.

Crazy #4: Only took you 8 days..
I birthed a genius! Trae is only 8 days old and can already hold a binky in his mouth with his hand. He doesn’t totally have the sucking thing down, he’s a little too aggressive and shoots it out, but he found the solution for that one!

Crazy #5: And faceplant!
All the pictures of him screaming are on Dani’s camera, but he did not enjoy this one bit. Believe it or not, it is not small task to keep a baby still for more than 7 seconds in the position you want. We are making casts of his hands and feet. We’ll see how those turn out..
So I promise baby Traeson is the most adorable little guy you will ever see, and doesn’t always look so crazy. To prove it here are some other pictures from the photo shoot:

Definitely one of the craziest, and best, days I’ve ever had. I love this little boy and he couldn’t be more perfect.

Comments:
Nicole Hannig:
OH I LOVE THESE! So so so cute! I can’t wait to see more!

Hannah Lartey:
SO SO SO SO cute! I love him! You belong in the valley of the gorgeous Alexa.

It's official

November 4, 2010
After many weeks of considering it, then being told today that I must, I have started a blog. Apparently many people are interested in my life, and since I lack an addiction to Facebook a blog seems to be the only solution.
